This programme integrates the SEND Code of Practice, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and principles of race and social justice. It invites personal reflection, collaborative problem solving, and direct school-based observation to empower inclusive leadership.
Inclusive Leadership Programme Overview
Aims
- To deepen leaders' understanding of inclusive education through the lens of the SEND Code of Practice, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and social justice.
- To develop the skills and reflective practices needed to challenge biases, shift non-inclusive mindsets, and lead change.
- To support participants in identifying and exploring a personal or school-based inclusion challenge, using evidence-based frameworks and reflective cycles.
Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will:
- Understand how to actively apply the principles of inclusive education, including the Inclusion Pledge/ Charter, UDL, and the legal/statutory requirements of the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
- Reflect critically on their own attitudes, assumptions, and potential biases, as well as those embedded in their school systems.
- Develop and refine a guiding inquiry question or challenge related to inclusive leadership in their own settings.
- Observe and reflect on real-world inclusive practices in action through a guided school visit.
- Design an actionable plan for advancing inclusion and equity in their school community.
Programme Journey
- Online 2-hour launch: Foundations of Inclusive Leadership (Wednesday 15th October, 3:30pm to 5:15pm
- Online 2- hour Exploration of a Case Study School (Wednesday 5th November, 3:30pm to 5:15pm
- In Person Full Day Visit to Case Study School location TBC, Wednesday 3rd December 10am to 3pm
- In Person Half Day Professional Learning Community: Applying Learning and Framing for Change, Wednesday 21st January 1pm to 4pm
- In Person Half Day Professional Learning Community: Reflection and Moving Forward, Wednesday 25th February 1pm to 4pm
