Post 16 Professional Learning Network

The Primary Science Network will support subject leaders to develop in their role through subject-specific training, regular updates, and opportunities to share best practice.

This network is a professional learning community for SENCOs and Inclusion leads. The aim of this community is to provide a forum for learning and reflection that supports the development of inclusive practice within your school settings.

These meetings will support induction tutors/leads, in fulfilling their statutory duties by guiding them through using ECT manager, conducting progress reviews and formal assessments.

For this network, we will be joined by Peter Warwick, our associate maths adviser who will be delivering a session on oracy and maths. We will also be reviewing our learning from the deputy heads conference and identifying future training needs.

This course will update senior leaders on the assessment and reporting arrangements for 2024.

This is an opportunity to meet termly with colleagues from across the borough to discuss different aspects of the primary English curriculum. It is a forum where we can share our successes and challenges, creating opportunities for school-to-school support and development. Through these sessions we will also explore current research findings and implications for classroom practice.

It will support preparation for moderation and there will be an opportunity to unpick examples of standardised writing that are used to train moderators.

This is the first RSJ Network for the 2024 - 25 Academic year. This event will be a relaunch of the RSJ work and an opportunity to begin a year of working more collaboratively with other schools. We should have the Young Mayor of Barking and Dagenham in attendance, as well as a representative from Hemisphere Education who work with schools to build their racial literacy.

This course will be in 2-parts and will also include a gap task. The course aims to support practitioner’s understanding of language and communication development. It will also focus on the importance of quality adult interactions to support children’s learning. The course will provide an opportunity to explore the communication and language ELGs in order to make accurate assessments.

An opportunity for headteachers to explore how to have the conversations which we can sometimes find most difficult, exploring psychological safety and how to respond constructively to challenging issues, including in relation to race and social justice.

Greg will advise on removing a child’s name from the roll of a school, allocations who don’t attend, Children Missing Education (CME) and Elective Home Education (EHE). This presentation aims to assist attendance officers and school staff to have a better understanding of the law, DfE guidance and borough procedures that govern these areas.

This is a great opportunity to invest in the leadership development of this key group, whilst helping them to build their professional network and share best practice with colleagues from across Barking and Dagenham and neighbouring local authorities.

This two part course will look at researched backed approaches to the teaching & learning of times tables, including brain plasticity and the difference between memorization and automaticity. It includes practical approaches that can be directly applied back in the classroom and support both a whole school approach & policy development. The second part of the course will include further challenge and reasoning and look at the administration of the MTC in year 4.

As part of our Inclusion by Design CPD suite we have a series of training on how to maximise the functionality of technology in your classroom for learners with SEND. This three part series of training supports the UDL framework and will upskill you on utilising technology in your classrooms to enable access for SEND and EAL learners.

This course will be delivered by LGfL and will provide you with the skills, knowledge and strategies to implement UDL in your schools. Through this course you will explore the core principles of UDL and how to implement them within your classroom so that all learners, regardless of needs, can access and engage with the learning.

This meeting is aimed at teachers who are new to teaching KS5 Chemistry and Lab Technicians. There will be time provided to network and meet colleagues from other LBBD schools; we will then review the technical preparation for the Electrochemical Cells practical (OCR PAG8, AQA RP8).
