BDSIP’s Early Literacy Skills Programme is an evidence-informed intervention designed to build strong foundational literacy skills in early years and Key Stage 1 learners.

Literacy Skills for Secondary is a practical course designed to support educators and mentors working with secondary school students who experience difficulties with reading and writing.

Reading Recovery is a short-term, early intervention programme designed to help Year 1 children who are struggling with reading and writing catch up with their peers. Delivered by specially trained teachers, the programme provides daily, one-to-one lessons tailored to each child’s specific needs.

For this network, we will be joined by Peter Warwick, our associate maths adviser who will be delivering a session on oracy and maths. We will also be reviewing our learning from the deputy heads conference and identifying future training needs.

The school census is the department’s primary source of administrative data about pupils attending schools in England. The Autumn school census will be used to fund the schools block of the dedicated schools grant, 16-19 funding allocations, universal infant free school meals and the pupil premium. During this session will highlight all key information and dates for the Spring Census.

This two part course will look at researched backed approaches to the teaching & learning of times tables, including brain plasticity and the difference between memorization and automaticity. This course will help you to understand the different elements of learning children will need to experience and develop in order to achieve the early learning in writing. It will also support you in making accurate judgements of children's writing in EYFS.

This course will cover the national curriculum objectives in writing for year 4 and unpick how those translate into an expected level by the end of year 4.

We know that phonics is now successfully embedded in the majority of primary settings. However, the teaching of comprehension and inference is still a challenge for many, as well as instilling a love of reading for life. As a group supported by experts, we will explore what we know works and how to introduce approaches in our settings.

Professional Learning Community (PLC) - the focus for this year's PLCs will be on the Secondary ASD ARPs. As part of this, each ARP will have the opportunity to facilitate a session where they can share insights with primary schools (and each other) regarding the offerings of the ARP and guide primary SENCos/Inclusion Leads on the most suitable ARP placements for their pupil' next school placement.

To support schools that are considering to move to Arbor MIS, this workshop will mainly be applicable to schools that currently have assessment markbooks in Integris.
