The Understanding Good Autism Practice and the AET Frameworks for Leaders module is part of the Suite of Resources for Leaders. It has been compiled for leaders and leadership teams within education settings to embed culture change across their provision and support them on their journey to become an outstanding and inclusive setting. The resources will support leaders to fully embed the 8 principles of good autism practice as outlined in the Good Autism Practice Report.

Delivered by qualified, expert trainers, with current experience in Education, this course will equip individuals with an understanding of the values and philosophy of the Team Teach approach.

New to Governance – a session for new governors providing the knowledge, understanding and skills to undertake roles effectively.

This session will explore the role of governors sitting on complaints panels. We will clarify the latest guidance and regulations from the Department for Education and explain the role of governors and clerks in ensuring that complaints are considered in a fair and reasonable manner. We will pay particular attention to how panel hearings are structured and conducted.

This network is a professional learning community for SENCOs and Inclusion leads. The aim of this community is to provide a forum for learning and reflection that supports the development of inclusive practice within your school settings.

BDSIP’s Early Literacy Skills Programme is an evidence-informed intervention designed to build strong foundational literacy skills in early years and Key Stage 1 learners.

Reading Recovery is a short-term, early intervention programme designed to help Year 1 children who are struggling with reading and writing catch up with their peers. Delivered by specially trained teachers, the programme provides daily, one-to-one lessons tailored to each child’s specific needs.

For this network, we will be joined by Peter Warwick, our associate maths adviser who will be delivering a session on oracy and maths. We will also be reviewing our learning from the deputy heads conference and identifying future training needs.

The session will support year 6 teachers in understanding what writing genres need to be covered across year 6 and in what depth, ensuring a strong, cohesive writing curriculum. We will explore how to successfully build towards an independent piece and look at standardised examples from the STA.

It is a forum where we can share our successes and challenges, creating opportunities for school-to-school support and development. Following on from the highly successful A Vision for Inclusion conference in March 2023, our sixth annual conference will explore the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a framework for strengthening universal provision and high quality first teaching to support the inclusion of all learners in all educational settings.

The nursery meeting provides an opportunity for nursery practitioners to meet with other nursery practitioners to share and discuss quality practice in nursery. They also give practitioners an opportunity to consider ‘next steps’ for their own nursery in relation to new ideas and reforms in latest EYFS developments.

This is the first RSJ Network for the 2024 - 25 Academic year. This event will be a relaunch of the RSJ work and an opportunity to begin a year of working more collaboratively with other schools. We should have the Young Mayor of Barking and Dagenham in attendance, as well as a representative from Hemisphere Education who work with schools to build their racial literacy.

With guest speaker, Kathryn Webb, this session promotes an understanding of how trauma inside and outside of school can affect a child’s ability to engage in education, a parent to support their child to attend and the damage us as professionals can do when we do not walk in the shoes of those affected.

The school census is the department’s primary source of administrative data about pupils attending schools in England. The Autumn school census will be used to fund the schools block of the dedicated schools grant, 16-19 funding allocations, universal infant free school meals and the pupil premium. During this session will highlight all key information and dates for the Spring Census.

This two part course will look at researched backed approaches to the teaching & learning of times tables, including brain plasticity and the difference between memorization and automaticity. It includes practical approaches that can be directly applied back in the classroom and support both a whole school approach & policy development. The second part of the course will include further challenge and reasoning and look at the administration of the MTC in year 4.

This session will focus on how to address and improve punctuality across the school. We will look at the impact of punctuality on a child’s learning, tracking, and coding. Moving on to unauthorised absences and leave of absences, we will explore how to tackle difficult conversations. Action plans will cover why and when we need them, including scenarios and a step-by-step guide to creating and completing an action plan.

The Crafting Non-Fiction Writing in Year 6 course will clarify the requirement for this type of writing at the 'greater depth' standard, through exploring the statements on the Teacher Assessment Framework in relation to writing.
